These instructions show all steps needed to use a Graupner HOTT 2.4 GHz transmitter/receiver system with PPM sum stream.

Overview

Required steps for a brand new set:

  1. update the firmware on transmitter and receiver
  2. bind transmitter and receiver
  3. set up thr transmitter
  4. set up the receiver to PPM sum stream

Update the Software

When the transmitter is switches on the firmware version is diplayed short.
Check if the transmitter uses obsolete firmware version in comparison to the current firmware version available

The page the firmware can be downloaded also provides special information for the version, some require special handling

Update the Transmitter

Update via Micro SD card

This is available with firmware version v1.7xx and above for mx-12 and mx-16.

If a brand new Micro SD card is used, the folder architecture is not present:

  1. put Micro SD card into transmitter
  2. switch on transmitter
  3. after transmitter bootet completely the Folder architecture has been created, switch off

Hardware Tips & Tricks

Output Type
The receiver offers following output types:

  • ONCE

Standard setting, for analog servos, all servos are driven after each other.
The cycle lengh is 20mS (doesn't matter what Period and RX Servo is set to), GR-24 is set to 30mS.

  • SAME

For digital servos, they are driven in quater blocks (4 servos are driven at once, than the next 4 and so on).
Set cycle time to 10mS if only digital servos are used, if analog are used set cycle time to 20mS.

  • SUMI

Sum stream in, is needed if 2 receivers are used in satelite mode for redundancy.

  • SUMO

Sum stream output for satelite mode.

  • SUMD

Digital sum stream output

    • HD last received valie will be held
    • FS Fail Safe values will send
    • OF no signals will be send

The Last two letters indicate the handling if the connection to the transmitter is lost

Signal Lengh
Servo signal Lengh can be changed in the Telemetry menue at the RX Srvo Test page.
Standard min: 1000µS
Standard max: 1000µS
